Extraordinary Times - Chapter 1

Date:

12/10/2022

REF:

TPA/RJ/BOX3(1)

Scope and Content:

Extraordinary Times is a cutting-edge, literary thriller set in an imagined future in Belfast on the eve of a referendum on Irish unity. The novel wittily charts how six interconnected characters navigate the fortnight leading up to the historic referendum and are inadvertently caught up in a violent plan to disrupt the vote. While the narrative depicts a Northern Irish society trying to shake off its Troubles past, it also satirically deals with issues like race, gender, misogyny, drugs, ambition, lifelogging and celebrity. This is the first of the 32 chapters of Rosemary Jenkinson's new book. And for the next 31 years, a new chapter will be released on the Linen Hall's digital platform on exactly the same date - 12th October - until 2054 when all 32 chapters will have been released. In the event a unity referendum takes place before 2054, the entire book will be digitally released to coincide with it.
