Northern Ireland Scrubs (Quilt)

Date:

10/2021-12/2021

REF:

NIPC/HAC/BOX1(4)

Scope and Content:

Patchwork quilt made from nurses' scrubs. This quilt was created by NI Scrubs East Down as a special tribute to all the dedicated sewers, stitchers and volunteers involved in producing thousands of scrub sets, face masks and visors for frontline and key workers throughout lockdown. The quilt, 1.2m by 2m in size, contains 60 squares and was created by over 100 volunteers. Grainne Quinn, project co-ordinator explains: "Created as a special keepsake of the journey which inspired and helped so many during lockdown... all those involved in the local scrubs work were an amazing bunch of talented and caring people who came out in force when times were tough to help those most in need." The quilt was exhibited on loan for the Linen Hall Library exhibition, Together We Are Strong, which ran from 8th November - 23rd December 2021. This record refers to a digital image of the quilt.
