Black and white photograph of Michele Forbes and Carol Scanlan on stage in the Charabanc Theatre Company production of "Bondagers," by playwright Sue Glover. "Bondager" was the term given to women labourers in nineteenth-century Northumberland, who were hired as a condition of their husbands' employment, and made to work at half the wage.
